Cause Buttons: “Radical Ideas” Campaign 2016
I designed these for a class assignment around the election, got a bunch printed and I’d like to get them out into the world. 4 causes that are too often considered #radical as in “pie in the sky” whatever that means, but should be considered #radical as in “Shaka bra” whatever that means.

Cultural Institution Rebranding Assignment 2017
I chose to symbolize the BMI with an illustration of their famous crane. I used Eames Century Modern by House Industries because it’s a utilitarian slab serif typeface that feels like it comes from the 19th Century. The dashed line represents aspects of industries featured in the museum such as garment manufacture, and can be used in other branded materials. I lasercut the design and used it as a printing block to achieve a worn look.

My fellow Reingold design intern Roland Lovett and I collaborated on these coasters for a Ted Talk style event organized by the intern group.

For my graphic design final project, I was asked to choose a real conference that deals with issues outside the US to design a brochure with a fold out poster for. I chose the Socialism 2016 conference in Chicago, and drew inspiration from Avant Gard typography movements like Constructivism and Dada to communicate the radical nature of the conference.

For the title, I decided to cut the letters out of paper because I wanted them to be somewhat imprecise to make the artist’s hand show through, echoing the working-class nature of socialism.

Description

In 2015, I earned an Associates in Studio Art from Montgomery College which exposed me to traditional fine art methods such as painting, drawing, and printmaking as well as digital media. I am currently a senior pursuing a Graphic Design BFA at Towson University.

In summer 2015, I worked as a graphic design intern for the 9:30 Club/ I.M.P. Promotions, a world renowned DC music venue which also manages concerts at venues such as the Lincoln Theatre, U Street Music Hall, and Merriweather Post Pavilion. I worked under the guidance of the Art Director to create posters, web banners, and graphics for social media, which gave me a lot of insight into concert promotion and advertising design. Last summer I interned at a marketing/ communications agency in Alexandria called Reingold where I’ve been able to create work for a range of clients, as well as take creative initiative on some internal projects.

I’m currently interning at Spur Design, a renowned design agency run by Dave Plunkert and Joyce Hesselberth.

I host a podcast called Coffee and Ink in which I interview designers, illustrators, and other creative people about their craft and how they got to where they are. I also perform improv and stand-up comedy which helps my communication skills and ability to be more open and embrace unconventional ways of thinking.
