Cause Buttons: “Radical Ideas” Campaign 2016
I designed these for a class assignment around the election, got a bunch printed and I’d like to get them out into the world. 4 causes that are too often considered #radical as in “pie in the sky” whatever that means, but should be considered #radical as in “Shaka bra” whatever that means.
Cultural Institution Rebranding Assignment 2017
I chose to symbolize the BMI with an illustration of their famous crane. I used Eames Century Modern by House Industries because it’s a utilitarian slab serif typeface that feels like it comes from the 19th Century. The dashed line represents aspects of industries featured in the museum such as garment manufacture, and can be used in other branded materials. I lasercut the design and used it as a printing block to achieve a worn look.
My fellow Reingold design intern Roland Lovett and I collaborated on these coasters for a Ted Talk style event organized by the intern group.
For my graphic design final project, I was asked to choose a real conference that deals with issues outside the US to design a brochure with a fold out poster for. I chose the Socialism 2016 conference in Chicago, and drew inspiration from Avant Gard typography movements like Constructivism and Dada to communicate the radical nature of the conference.
For the title, I decided to cut the letters out of paper because I wanted them to be somewhat imprecise to make the artist’s hand show through, echoing the working-class nature of socialism.
